23 Crappie, 11 largemouth bass landed. 4 others pulled off. (MadBomber keepers) emoPoke

Pat and I hit Nickajack this morning for some topwater fishing for bass. They aren't going gang busters yet, but we did get a few schooling bass to come up and we landed 11 and missed 4 others. In between the bass jumps, we fished a bridge for crappie. Pat had a good day of catching. I landed a few, but not too many. But we both had fun. The crappie were deep again and not very aggressive. There was a ton of bait fish around and the bass were chasing them for a while, but when the sun got up high, the action slowed down a lot. We tried rattle traps but couldn't get a sniff with the traps. Pat caught a couple on tail spinners and lost a couple on TS, but most of our bass came on topwater Pop-R's.

We had an exciting start to the day. Got Pat's heart pumping really good when we had made a very short run and he realized that he forgot to put the plug in the boat. Talk about panic city. He finally laid down in the back of the boat and was able to reach the bottom drain hole and insert the plug. Bilge pump took care of the rest. We didn't have much water on board.

Then when we were loading the boat, Pat dropped one of the trailer wheels into a hole and the truck would not pull the boat and trailer out. He had to go swimming, lift up on the trailer while I pulled the boat out of the hole. Fortunately, he had a dry set of clothes in the truck. No one was around when he stripped down to put on the dry clothes, but a blue heron squawked really loud and took off for the next county. emoPoke Just kidding about the blue heron. That didn't happen. emoBigsmile

Had a good time today with the bass, Pat. We had a couple that were good keepers. I only took one pic and Pat took a few more of the fish. Maybe he will post them after while. emoBigsmile emoGeezer
