Pat and I had a great morning at the Nick. We had plans to fish for bass on topwater lures and spoons, and crappie with jigs when the bass were not schooling. Both species were very co-operative. We had a wonderful time switching back and forth from crappie to bass. We didn't use our clicker to see how many crappie we caught, but a conservative estimate is 50-60 fish topped off by a nice 15.25 inch TARP White Crappie that was caught on a 1/24 oz jig with a key lime pie Bobby Garland 2" shad.

The schooling bass were amazing. They would come up every few minutes and chasing shad around in circles. There was one time that the bass were chasing the shad around the pilings on the bridge and they made 2 complete loops around the pilings before they went back down. That is the first time that I have seen activity like this before. You would think that the bass were at a carnival. emoBigsmile Round and round she goes and where she stops, nobody knows. We landed about 20 bass up to 3 lbs. One time, Pat and I both hooked up at the same time and the bass crossed each other and tangled our lines together and we wound up losing both of them at the boat. Pat had 2 bass of about 3 lbs at the same time on the same lure, but one pulled off before getting to net range. I caught bass on pop-R's and flutter spoons and Pat used pop-R's and tail spinners. Fun day.

Most all the crappie were deep and we were dead sticking a lot of the time before the fish would bite the plastic. The current kept going in and out at the bridges and would move the fish from one side to the other nearly every time that it changed. Thanks for taking me fishing today, Pat. Let's do this program again. emoBigsmile emoGeezer And thanks for the lunch. What a Ham and Cheese sandwich. emoHungry
