Deer Creek???

Has anyone fished Deer Creek lately. I was wondering how the fishing is there and where the safest ice was. I am hoping on going out this weekend and catching some decent rainbows. I’m also trying to find out what they have been catching the rainbows with, Hopefully i can find out and i can tie up some marabou jigs and try them out possibly Friday, and Saturday. thanks [;)]

I fished it a week ago in rainbow bay and the ice was good (5-6"). I have been doing well for rainbows in a few different waters with white marabou jigs. I tie them kinda big, on 1/4 oz jigheads. Try a bright jighead like yellow, pink, or chartruese, tie in a whole large white marabou feather for the tail (makes a nice even, thick tail) and palmer up the shank with pearl estaz chenille. I like to add a good amount of crystal flash to the tail. Tip with worm or meat and twitch it whenever a fish comes near it. If you fish rainbow bay, I found decent perch action in 32’ of water out near the bouy line and picked up a few rainbows as well. I have caught browns, cutts, and bows on this particular jig.

alright. thanks for the info [:)] ill need to tie some of those and get fishing. I hope i can head out there friday, and saturday. If i do, ill tell you how i did. I have never fished for perch at of Deer Creek, prob cuz i fish for rainbows in the channel when the lake is high in the summer, i wonder if it is thick enough out in the middle where the channel now runs through. if i find the channel. thanks [;)]
