YEEE HAAAA!!! I dont have to carry the SKUNK hide anymore.
Fished today out by the Heber creeper. It was fast action for me all day. Cant say the same for everybody I was around but I was GLOWING like my GENZE.
Started off with 4 bows in about 27 feet of water 5 feet off bottom
Then she hit me a nice healthy BROWN!! not a hog but still made my day about 17 to 18 incher. It was unusually shallow 16 feet right off the bottom.
I also caught a fatty bow right beforewe left.
Released the brown and all but 2 bows for my mom.
The bows were in spawning colors. Some almost were black.
I fished all day with a total of 9 trout -0 walleye
Lure/bait: GENZE with small glow tubes tipped w/ crawler or mealies and a little powerbait. also some were caught on a large green squid with mealies
Walleyes should be on there pilgrimage too spawn soon so they are on the move. Was the water coming up ? Is the ice by the river mouth breaking up yet ?
The water is rising pretty good. Talked to a guy that said he uses the same lucky hole all winter.he uses a digital depth finder and says the water is nine feet deeper now than at the beginning of the season.
I couldnt see the mouth but it seem solid all the way out in the flats so i would figure it is ok except for the very edges.
The lake has a little pocket of slush sandwiched between the ice and snow.
cant wait for the spawn. NIGHT FISHING THE CREEK.= Good times
Im sorry bout the skunk!!! I got skunked their a bunch this year. I like to go their because I can take my dogs. I just got sick of catching no fish all day or maybe one fish all day. The dogs got left behind, I had to get my fix through the ice and deer creek has been the only place that produces for me on a reg basis. It is worth the 20 min walk across the lake to get away from the crowed island area. I bet it is a zoo this weekend. The edges seem to be getting better now.
We all had good bites all day long and had fish on that got off at the hole, besides all the fish that we actually caught.
So go drop your unwanted skunk hide off at the creek this weekend It will be worth it.[fishon]
Glad to see you made the treck across the lake. The last two times we’ve been to Deer Creek we walked across and were pleasantly rewarded. It’s fun to catch the bows even if you put them back for next time.
