<" }}^ >< Ice Fishing Tip #35

Amended (Credited to Flagmanonice, Thank You!)

This one is for you “High Teckies” with your new fangled sonar devices.

Finding the bottom of the lake can be quite bothersome, it is difficult to locate your wanted position even with fish finders when you have to drill a hole and clean the hole just to get a reading. You are not really much better than a man with a led clip on the end of his line.

Well there is a short cut for those sonar users and that is you only need to drill or chip a hole an inch or two deep just enough to make a puddle when adding a cup of water from your minnow bucket. ** In many cases just adding water to the top of the ice is enough to do the job. (Experiment with your equipment)**

Your sonar will read a solid patch then clear with the possibility of some fish then the bottom of the lake.
