Dave and I made a trip to the Berry for some slimmers, Okay trout…
We got to the ramp at 8:00 and I made my first cast with gloves on and the pole and all just slipped out of my hand, Yep it sank to the bottom in 15’ of water…
Well we came to fish so I picked up another rod and made another cast, (no I kepted a good hold of this one) but on my third cast I hooked a line with my lipless lure and got my pole back (happy days)…
We fished in water from 5’ out to 40’ and all fish came from water 10’ and deeper…The cuts are in better shape and my go from a pound to two pounds heaver per size then last year at this time..
Longest cut was 23" and just a guess at 5 lb, we got over 13 fish bows and cuts then I lost count but who cares it was a good day to be on the water…
Oh yes, some of the cuts had lots of spots even on the belly as the picture shows…All fish was let go or they jumped out of the boat when we talked about the smoker and the 23" cut, yes they know just what you are talking about so watch what you say…[;)]
Sounds like you had a good day. Darn smoker runner awayers haha… We should have had you handy when dad lost his pole, way to go on getting it back [;)]
Very nice Cliff. I should be so lucky to get a day that calm on the Berry, but then again, I have caught my Biggest fish in 3’ waves…LOL
As far as the weight of the 23"…did it weight the same as a bag of sugar? (I love saying that…LOL)
No a bag of lemons [;)] , we fished with lucky craft lures the 78 in smallmouth and one other I’m not sure the name off hand but it has the yellow mark down the side…
These lures go only 8’ to 10’ deep when cast or trolled and we did both and got fish both ways, but when trolling we tried to stay in water 30’ or less but deeper then 10’..
