Berry plea.

So, I am about to take my skeptic girlfriend on her first (ice)fishing trip. I am planning on taking her up to Strawberry, and hooking into come nice fish, and hopefully get her hooked on fishing (it’s an important quality in a woman  )

I have had mixed luck up at the Berry ice fishing, and I by no means consider myself an expert. I want to give my girl an awesome day, though.

I seem to have had a bit better luck over near the marina than I have in places like CCE.

Anywho, this is a plea to all you experienced Berry fishermen. I would appreciate any help, via response here or PM.

If you fish buy the marina get there early. The bite is best from 7:00am - 11:00am.

Or be willing to walk a half mile or more and it could extend the catch time but still get up there early.

It would be best to fish the first half of the day, like 7:00am -12:00, if she is not a dedicated fisherwoman.

Dito on what MGB said. I think the most important thing is to get away from the crowds and dont make alot of noise when fishing it gets inhanced with the ice and can spook fish alot easier in shallower water. When I was there last Sat. I fihed the east side of the marina store there were tons of people and they were making tons of noise plus all of the atv and snowmobile traffic so I picked an area away from the noise and the machine traffic and did ok for a saturday up there in just a few hours of fishing. Heading up there this afternoon and I will post a report tonight

I went up yesterday and fished till 1:00 in the bay by the marina and never marked a fish. Hardly anybody there to make noise and I moved every half hour or so. Good luck.
