Christie and I were tired of all the low water and such and needed a bass fishing fix. Milner always seems to come through for us. We set out early expecting the bass to bite when it was cool. We found the opposite to be true. The bass bite started around 11 am and was steady till sunset. Good thing we had a cooler full of drinks. There was plenty of smaller fish with a nice one here and there. Anything brown, like rootbeer grubs or brown creature baits produced. The lava rock also takes its toll on tackle and we tied lots of knots. The water is murky and the rocks are hard to see. As with any boating on the Snake River always be carefull of all the rocks and debris in the river.
**Awesome! I love Milner. How was the grass situation up there? Its great to have the WallyWorld right across the street from the boat ramp. Didya fish in the “kitchen”?

I fished the kitchen on saturday, caught a bunch of dinks and a couple in the two pound range, lost one about 4lbs right at the boat.
Caught more fish down by the Dam, but nothing worthy of a photo.
Caught most fish on three and four inch stick baits and 3-1/2" Cut’r Bugs. Changeable craw and green pumpkin was the colors.
If you want to fish up there, then you would be better off to wait until the Weather gets colder!

Yes it was way to warm. We do way better later too but its nice to get away from the crowds. So where is the “kitchen”? We rarely venture further down than the rock island by the big pumping station. Never seemed to have to go that far to catch fish. I did well on a yum craw but had it rigged on too small a hook so they really had to get it to get hooked. I fooled around trying to find the “magic bullet” while Christie caught fish on a simple brown grub.
We are going to Massicre Rocks next weekend. Mostly to attend the Eastern Idaho State Fair, Josh Turner is entertaining Friday eve. But while we are there we have to check the river. There are some 20 inchers in there. I know because I let some go last year. Helps the tornament guys out. I wonder how much money flows into Burley from the bass contests there. Its all good.
Sounds like you and Christie had a good day on the lake, did you make it up to the Sheepdog finals?
oops…Na to tired. We had gotten up early to fish. didnt need to as the fish bite was on in the heat of the day.
