I decided to hit Pine View this morning, looking for a few perch/crappie, but instead ended up with a mess. I was not quite in the middle, between the port ramp and Browning point just watching the Vex when a head popped out of the hole with my brand new ice ducer in it’s mouth.
As it tried to go back down the hole I grabbed the ducer cord and pulled it back out, all while trying to flip up my pac shack, reel in the line I had out, and not loose anything else down the hole.
It was a real rush, and with out the help of Johnnythehook and his crew it might have turned out a little worse. Thanks again guys!! It was awesome!!
Attached are a few of pic’s of the ice ducer eating culprit.
Hope you didn’t keep it because your now allowed to [crazy]
Ok, now I know I haven’t dloaded this year’s “code” but has something changed?
That is a wicked story. Haven’t hear many musky under ice this year. Maybe they’re just not telling.
That’s a neat theory. Lunkering for dying leftovers. I can see that.
I’ve had several trout - some nice ones too - I’m sure - wrap up and disengage around the camera cord. Have landed some OFF the cord too after tangling up.
Ahh good times!
Bite off the FF, hmmm, big black hairy jig is looking GOOD! Just under ice - perch head… braid line… I can see it!
So how DO you land a toothy
fish like that thru the ice? I know I ain’t stickin MY arm down that hole!!!
i was out there today off cemetery point, i saw a big line at 14 ft deep on my vex so i reeled up to see if i could get a bite…sure enough it came after my bait immediately. i set the hook, my pole bent in half and then snapped at the base…it took out a little drag then i grabbed the line with my hand wanting to ensure i didnt lose tension with all the mess i had going on with a broken pole and then it cut the line. no fish no pole no lure…bummer man.
did good on the perch between the two of us we kept 65 all at about 7.5 inches with a few at 8.5…and also my buddy got a 14 inch smallie
apparently the tiger muskie were having an active day!
Last time I looked they both use transducers. I didn’t know any of them had options for hooks though.[crazy][crazy][crazy] I can’t imagine how the fish stayed on the “line”.
The toothy beast did not let go of the ducer until it (the beast) was out of the hole, cut to the center of the cable with a tooth, and left some deep tooth marks and scratches in the ducer. It was a real rush, worth the cost of another new ducer.
