We hit pineview by the damn today on our way home from idaho fishin:) edges are SOLID and so is the ice. There are lots of spots that look like holes, but are just weird imperfections of solid ice!! Ice was 5". We found two sets of holes about near middle and just hot spotted them so we didn’t have to drill our own:). We are big trout guys but figured we live so close to the big pine that we’d hit it up for kicks and giggles. Hickory smoked perch can be good! We we picked up a pile of perch off bottom, all of which were VERY hard to set hooks in. We found out why when we pulled them up and all were 2-3" lol… Bummer. Biologists say this is bad year for perch. We did catch a 13" crappie though. I would love to pull a Muskie up onto the deck, any ideas, tips, tackle, or technique??? Thanks and ice was pleanty safe and pleanty thick, at least in narrows.

There are some big Perch in there. I caught some in the late fall.
Last year, at first ice, I fished close to where you say you were today and iced 2 Tiger Muskie.
Both were suspended at the same depth as the Crappie.
One took a Rat Finkie and the other a Maniac Ice Cut’r.
I broke them both off at the hole, part because I was fishing with 4# line and part because I didn’t want to touch them.
Thanks for info!!:). That’s all I want from pineview is to ice a Muskie. I’ve heard of people catchin them while reeling in a perch but I want to target them exclusively. My crappiecwas caught off bottom with perch. Where do they usually suspend at? Mid water column??
Ditto with PV reports. Kipper Snack perch by the dozens on bottom in 40’ range by buoy line in Narrows. I measured ice at 7" on north side, 9" on shady south side. More action on south side, with bluegills, tho small just under keeper size. One jumbo perch, only keeper of the day. Fished from noon-3pm. One good thing was NO SLUSH AT ALL. Room for nearly 10 cars on north side and two paths to walk down. Path heading east longer, but more tramped down than steeper one heading west.
