I hit Yuba PR after work this evening just after 4. I went just northwest of the island. In two hours I had 9 perch and one bait [;)] but he counts so I was done. They were all about the 10 mark with a couple going 12". lil brown tube jig with some shrimp jelly and carp minnow was the ticket.
Ice is still plenty good out in the middle. Edges weren’t bad, I stepped on with no plank. There were a couple gents across from me, based on their tracks and parking I would say they were there a bit and had moved around. A couple others on a Wheeler returned about sundown but we didn’t chat.
I was in 16ft… They hit coming off the bottom. As soon as I saw separation on my graph I stopped, gave it a sec and then they would hit or I would bounce and wait… etc.
Good report but that looks like 20 perch!! [:p] I really want to go tomorrow morning to painted rocks but not sure since i cant buy a bite on the ice. Dont have smelly jelly or carp meat but i still have some chubs maybe that will work. Did you move around from deep to shallow or just stayed in 16 feet?
I got lucky this trip and first stop was the right place. Normally, if there are no fish I move around a bit. I drill a few holes to begin with and go from there.
I will be there this evening about 4 … knock on wood. You never know what will happen at work during the day [;)]
