Yuba is it worth the trip

Im thinking of going back down to Yuba this weekend temps are supposed to be around the 50’s for a high. My question is do the Pike still want to play after the round of snow and cold spells? Anybody know what the water temp is? Two saturdays ago it was 48-54 depending on what end of the lake I was on. Should i try something different from throwing jerk baits? I hate going out for nothing. Any Hooters if you have had the experience let me know, Or let me know on any terms. Whats your thoughts?

there was a 41 inch 20 lb pike cought last week.. i’m thinking it might be worth a try again soon.. :sunglasses:

Oh really thanks for the tip its going to be cold

In MN we would fish for pike and musky until the ice stopped us from launching a boat. I have busted shore ice to get to open water. Best time to catch the bruisers. Throw big baits. I preferred 3oz spinners slow rolled, large cranks in the 9" to 12" range or bucktails. Started throwing the big swimbaits and they seemed to work well also.

Now were talking thats what im after is a biggun thats good to know that they dont go into the slump when the weather changes very good news my freind.

Well another awesome day at Yuba frost bite one minute and sun and warm the next. Four of us went we all put fish in the boat the biggest of the day was a thick 35 incher ill post some pics later

Heres the big one

Just out of curiosity how deep were the pike ? I am taking my boat out one last time thanksgiving morning hoping to get a few pike before chomping on some turkey.

Pike were in shallow out to 14 ft

Thanks a bunch.

Well i didnt make it out since my wife got called in to work at the hospital so i got designated potato peeler and chocolate pie maker thats about all i can about cook.[:p] I am going to go out sunday i think the weather is suoposed to be just cloudy so i am crossing my fingers.

We went out today and it was pretty slow between 3 of us we caught 10 in 6 hours it was a nice and calm day. Mashed potatoes are my favorite cant get enough of them.

Well at least you guys didnt get skunked and it was a nice day. I saw the weather report for tomorrow supposed to be cloudy and windy so i am just gonna hit the shoeline and see if anything wants to bite . I hope Yuba ices over this winter it be fun to catchem thru the ice.
