This year ahm thankin dennnymite ourter werk. Nuthin else duz.
No easy answer. The fish have been tough to catch all year…but from now on they will be even tougher. As we have established, there are a lot fewer wipers and a lot more shad for them to eat. That reduces the incentive for them to play with fishermen and their silly lures.
Water temps are dropping down too low for fast trolling to work at all. The fish are still eating but not as much and not at warp speed. You will do better by fishing plastics or natural baits…worms or minnows. Most of the wipers I catch at this time of year are caught on minnows dragged along the bottom.
I also pick up a few with 3" white tube jigs…again, fished on or near the bottom. And during low light periods or when the water is murky you can do well with chartreuse plastics. Walleyes eat that stuff too.
Actually, at this time of year I usually shift my focus to crappies and walleyes…with a minor push for wipers and catfish. The latter two species are caught mostly by accident…fishing for the other two. So, if you work an area diligently with small tube jigs you could catch just about anything.
Well ill give it a shot.. Thanks
I’ve always done good on thin fins trolling, not sure if they will cast very far.
My go to is a silver with black stripes deep diving Producer.
They were the hot ticket years ago and I bought all I could find. They still out “Produce” any other lure in my box for Willard.
