Thinkin about doin some softwater fishin at Willard this Friday.You guys think it would be worth a try?? I’ll probably just hit it from the bank..so basically I’m just searching for a suggestion or two.Anybody??
Water temp is still a bit cold I would say… But I guess It’s always worth a shot!! Good luck man!
I too am tempted to hit it this weekend, just need to get the toon out and registered.
I will be tubing Willard Wednesday. I’ll be going prepared with all kinds of bait and plastics. Will post a report with pics and water info by Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

I have done very well from shore in years past, even during low water. The cats are prowlin’ and come into shallow water to get warm on sunny days. Walleyes are in shallower early and late and you never know about the wipers. They can be slow and on the bottom but sometimes they will smack a jig hanging three feet under a bobber this time of year.
TD, got too much on my plate for this week, but if it is good and you make another trip next week, give me a shout. The H3 is ready to go.
Tomorrow is an “exploratory surgery” thing. I suspect that the best fly flingin’ will be at least 30-60 days out, but walleyes and wipers do smack slow white buggers even in cold water.
I’ll post what I find and then you let me know what your schedule is and I will try to work with it. We are pretty flexible. Almost catatonic sometimes. That has nothing to do with cats…even though we “drive” a couple.

With the current low water conditions, I don’t have a clue either. Fortunately, I have fished that pond a lot over the years, during all seasons and all water levels. I at least know where the “percentages” are, even if the fish don’t wanna play. It can be very good or very bad…just like most waters.
As we have discussed, we will have to do a flyrod session for the wipers and kitties after the water warms a bit. They both hit flies well on Willard. And, you can sometimes add crappies, perch and walleyes to the mix…as well as smallmouth. They can all be caught on the same day on the same fly. Heck, it is not unusual to have a big ol’ carpinski slurp a fly, put the line over his shoulder and spool ya.
It is much easier to effectively fish flies when the water is lower. You can get by with a slow sink or even a sink tip for most fishing when you don’t have to get down more than a few feet. One major downside to having low water is that the lake turns “chocolate” when the wind blows. When the water is up it stays clearer and the fish are more active sight feeders.

I have been them for about 20 min. and haven’t seen them catch anything yet. But the water looks great.

Water WAS great. Fishing slow. We did get three small channel cats and I lost a nice walleye.

I catch a view of eagles all the time on that camera . This is just in the last 15 minutes .
Yep, one can get some great shots of Eagles on that camera.
That camera is cool and creepy Id feel weird if someone was watching me fish
