willard

went to willard today and dident get a thing. as nice as it was it was worth it, every one i passed was having the same luck. we tried every where and everything! water temp almost 46 in north marina and almost 44 every where else

Skunked [pirate]. Lost about a dozen jigs to the rock monster[:/]. Tried every direction but north and from 4 to 20 feet deep.

I was out on Sunday as well. I launched from the North Marina and trolled around for about 3 hours. I caught a couple of good sized logs, but no fish[:/]. It was my first time on Willard and I’m not going to let it discourage me. I was surprised by how many trailers were in the parking lot when I came in. DID ANYONE CATCH ANYTHING?

From my experiences Willard fishes much better in warmer weather late April \ May the Wiper action get real hot in may / june. not to say some cant be caught now I just think there more aggressive in hotter weather.

Like Sinergy said, give Willard a chance to warm up a bit. Can you cach wipers now, sure, if you find feeding ones that will hit your offering. But in my experiance, I hit Willard for the Crappie first, then after they disperse, I start looking for the wipers.

Spend your time these first few weeks learning the lake, it is vast and the bottom is like a plate. But there are features on the plate, a few feet difference in depth can make a huge difference in the fishing at willard.

The wipers are feeding easily on the huge population of shad. Our offerings are nothing when thier bellies are full.

Wind, ice off, cold temps, water clarity, time of year, etc. are all variables but they have an open grocery store in my opinion.

Timing and location are going to be the tactics for wipers this year. They will hit anything you present them as long as they are in the mood and have to excert the least amount of effort for the reward.

Went to Willard Bay today with a buddy of mine. Got to the north marina around 8:30 temp was around 37 the water temp was 48-50 in some places. Took the flat bottom out ran the 4 horse for the fist time this year was great to be back on the water in a boat. Didn’t get much action tried a lot of different things not much was looking today. Guess I will have to wait untill the weather gets even warmer. Was a great day all the way around not at work not at home.

I was there too on sunday fished from 11 to 3pm. temps were @ 41 on my finder and my boy and I both caught 1 eater walleye a piece out in the trench on the west side out of 26ft of water- bump trollin bottom bouncers at .4 on the gps- had to go through the clouds of fish on the finder several times to provoke both fish [;)][;)]

Right on buddy good job. Hopefully the action will pick up
