Ira and I got out this morning with Craig, around 7:30 and headed to the West side. We spent the whole morning BBing and had two limits by 11 am. Ira didn’t want any, so we stopped there. Lots of carp spawning. Water temp didn’t hit 70 before we left, but it was close, 69.7
I talked to two older guys at the fish cleaning station, that were trolling cranks and they did good as well and got their limits.

Stan and I were there yesterday (Wednesday). We limited as well, most were in the 18" range so nice quality fish.
This might help you as well, the two guys I talked to where trolling purple flicker shad, out in the Openess, far from the shore.

Mostly bb, only a couple on cranks. Did get 6 wipers, most of those on cranks.

Nice, glad you got your limit too and it’s good to hear the action is picking up for most.
That being said, everyday is different but hopefully tomorrow is good for anyone that gets out there.
Any size to the wipers John?
3 were pretty good size. I haven’t caught a lot of wipers so my judgment might be a bit off but they hit hard and fought great.
We don’t see many over 18" any more but any wiper that size or bigger, is a great wiper but even the small ones fight great.
Hey Bill, I forgot to ask, how did your motor work, did your reverse work on your main motor?
Nope I am going to make an appointment at lees as soon as I can. I have had it two different places and still not going in. Hope they can help.

How fast were you trolling for the wipers John?
To be clear, we were bbing and incidentally had some cranks out. Speed was from 1.3 to 1.7 depending on the wind and direction.
OK, I thought maybe you picked up your speed after you guys caught your limits of eyes. Haven’t heard of many folks catching that many wipers in one trip this year.

three were pretty small.
After talking to Chris Penne, he told me they stocked more wipers last year, so I’m not surprised more smaller wipers are showing up this year, so overall it is good news, it just shows that a good number of those stocked did survive.
