taking a friend from out of town to willard thursday any help or suggestions would help been awhile sense i have been out there.
My suggestion is to try somewhere else. Willard has not been good to many people this year.
Good luck!! We fished it this morning for 5 hrs without a single hookup!![frown]
3rd both of those guys advice, it is tough and when its good, its still hasn’t been that good. As for the wiper fishing.
Catfishing if good , and the walleye guys are doing good on occasions.
I have spent near 20 days out there this year with no consistency in catch numbers or species. jigs, bobbers, cranks, harnesses timing location different every trip.
1 wiper is still better than 20 planter trout though. Thats the way i have to look at it.
Thats just my observations.
Troll cranks at 3.5 to 4.0 mph to cover alot of water and find the 4 fish willing to bite that day
. I was actually out there monday speed trolling and caught a couple wiper a walleye and some catfish in the first couple of hours doing that. Fishing slowed down when I slowed down to pull harnesses. I think the name of the game right now is just cruise to find some willing fish. I wasnt by the shore either, just out in the middle. There are a bazzilion shadlets out there 1.5 to 2 inches long. I think that everything is just swimmin around with there mouth open and gettin fat. I’m pretty sure the fish being caught were just snagged in the mouth and didnt really eat the lure
.
thanks guys you have any hot spots you suggest?
I would have to agree with what mike said, i have caught a lot of fish(wipers & walleyes) trolling a bit faster in the middle of the lake washing cranks and trying to find the fish. I have seen more boils on the north west dike side this year, so use ur fish finder to locate the shad and try troll at the depth the shad are and the wipers and walleyes should be close. I have been doing good on deep diving shad raps, rattle traps, and jointed shad raps and even some lc pointers. Good luck
Thanks again guy’s been great
prey tell - what’s an LC Pointer?
an lc pointer aka lucky craft jerkbait. They are expensive but work good
