I launched my boat mid-day to run out the bugs and make sure everything is working properly. djremo joined me and we made sure all was well before getting down to business.
We started fishing on the east side by the sand with all sorts of jigs and minnows. I had 1 hit on a redside and that was it. We worked our way around and tried different spots. Finally ending in the channel right next to the ice, i had 2 hits on a white Power Grub with a worm. Missed them both. We threw cranks, various jigs, and bait. The water temp is still only 41* in the marina so it will be quite a while before it gets going. The ice is still over 4" thick right at the edge but very soft. A few good days of warmth and wind and it should go bye-bye.
There is open water all the way through Eagle beach along the bank and a big spot right outside of the marina. Not sure how deep it is over there but toons and tubes will have no problems over there. The average depth in the marina was 6’ with some places over 7’ and a couple spots as shallow as 3’ directly south of the ramp on the point. The water is pretty clear considering how much is being dumped in there. Look for another report in a couple weeks.
P.S. All of the docks are in the water and useable.[;)]
AHH, you were one of the two that forgot that it is wakeless speed inside the marina…

Thanks for the report. I am waiting ( not very patiently) to taking some eyes and wipers on.
I will be there in the morning/afternoon doing the same thing to my boat. May cast a line or two just for grins!!!
