Willard BFT floatilla 4-20-16

Thanks for the info, sounds like I have plans for Fri.

It was my own fault I didn’t catch anything keepable. I stuck with the same jig color all day because I just knew it was the right one. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Great looking flies. I can see why the wipers love them.

Isn’t that the definition of insanity? [;)]

I hope you were out of the no wake zone when Remo took that first picture.
I took a ride out there for my rehab walk after I got my car repaired. I got into a big delay because some semi hit a waffle food truck on the interstate. After I got there, I talked to some people who didn’t speak my language to see if the crappies were in the bay.
They were all catching wipers on mussels.

Maybe I’ll be good to go for a floatilla the next time out, or the bash on May 7th.

Sounds like a good day. Let me know when the next flotila is Iove to join you.

Sounds like a pretty good trip overall. Thanks for another informative and enjoyable post. Did you mostly throw and tow only soft plastics? I didn’t were mention of a single kitty.

**I tried dragging some minnows a couple of times but the kitties were being run off by the wacky wipers.

No catfish were harmed in the making of this report.

I was most successful with Gulp Minnows…both for crappies and wipers. But I did catch several crappies on small marabou jigs.

**He who continues to do the same thing…but expects different results…well?

The only good reason for continuing to fish the same thing is if it is working. But I have been known to keep experimenting when the fish are biting…trying to find something the fish won’t bite. So who is the least likely of us to be invited to join Mensa?

Now I am really antsy to go stillwater fishin with you again!
Love the reports.

**A “no wake” zone on Willard? Shirley, you jest. That may be about 10 feet up the ramp.

Our semi infrequent and unpublicized gatherings are usually the result of some fool (me) mentioning he might be making a trip. Then a few other masochists PM that they would like to provide company for my misery and suddenly we gots us a convoy.

Always fun but never totally planned. But anytime you see a hole in your personal schedule and wanna get together on the water shoot me a PM. If my dance card is open we can make some music. Seems like every time we’ve tried to do something creative life gets in the way.

See my response to Wavewolf. We never PLAN one of these things. They just kinda morph together. But of course you would be welcome if you stay tuned and jump in when the gang hits the beach.

**Thought about you a couple of times on the water today. Just knew you woulda got your stick bent a few times on those wascally wipers.

The good news is that this action should last at least another two or three weeks.

I may give it another couple of shots before my fickle fishing nature moves me to other waters. Lemme know when and if you wanna go play.

Thanks I like those they look like little crappie. Did you troll them behind or strip them in. J

Any day next week except Thur. Keep an eye on the weather.

Trolled fairly fast.

Cool thanks J

**I wouldn’t plan a trip for any day next week right now, based on the weather forecast between now and then. Wind, rain and falling temps again. Usually best after two or three days of calm and rising temps.

Stay in touch.

Thanks again Pat for the smoking supplies and the smoked catfish, it was great. I should be good for a while now, after that variety of wood you pass on to me and retch_sweeney volunteering the use of his wood shredder, for my cherry tree.
Looks like it was a great day at the Bay. There sure were plenty of people there.

Thanks again Pat for the smoking supplies.

Smoking supplies on 4-20, I knew you two were up to something…now where are the Cheeto’s

We checked out the north marina area today around lunch time. I thought that might be you and Rocky out there. After thorough recon, we didn’t see much catching at that time, so we moved along to the SW corner. We fished several hours with only a handful of bites. Ended with one wiper on shellfish. Had several wipers picked up just past our cast by trollers. That is pretty annoying for them to troll on top of our lines. Saw several other wipers caught by the jig and float crowd. Was a nice day to be out with my girl. Thinking about returning tomorrow with the tube, but the wind report has me chicken…
