Willard 3/28 - The good and the bad...

Took the boat out to Willard today with my wife and son. My goal was to get the boat out and make sure everything was in working order for my upcoming trip to Lake Powell.

Good news is the boat survived winter without any problems. It even started on the first try! I just finished re-stringing all of my poles and checked all the tackle so we were looking forward to getting out and throwing a few lures into the water.

Bad news is we didn’t catch anything today. We had a few bites but no hook-ups. The weather was not in our favor and the wind was blowing pretty hard all day. Water temps ranged from 38 degrees at the south end to 41 on the north end near the marina.

Hopefully the weather will warm up in the next couple of weeks and we can start getting into the walleye. I am looking forward to getting out there and catching some lunkers this year. Winter has been WAY too long!!

I was planning the same thing, getting the boat out, for the upcoming Powell trip and the rest of the fishing season. When are you going to Powell? I am going the first week in May.

The water temp needs to a lot warmer than that for the Wiper action to take off.

what do you mean bites were you baitfishing for cats or were you out for wipers?

We are heading to Powell on April 17-21. Going to fish for the first couple of days and then head to the Grand Canyon.

We were fishing for wipers and walleye. We were using spinners, cranks, plastics, and worms. No luck on any of the offerings we had for the fish the water temps are just too low.
