Where are the wipers?

So where have all the wipers gone. I fished from 9pm to 1am last night with my lighted bobbers and got one hit. Usually a high seventies day in early may will result in the best fishing of the year. Oh well, at least the walleye are coming back. I threw some gulp on just before I left and caught two fifteen’s in about as many minutes. I guess I should have been thinking walleye when I started.

hey id take eyes all day over anyfish for tablefare, but wipers are great eating too. ive never fished for wipers so i wouldnt know where to start at willard, plus willard is on my $@#! list.[:p]

The Wiper bite usually happens when the water temperature reaches and stays around 70 degrees or so. You may have a little bit of a wait yet, but you should be able to land some now.

When the output amount exceedes the input recruitment. That is the current Wiper status at Willard. Eat the walleyes and release the wipers I say in vain!

Can you eleborate on the gulp you were using?

I’m betting it was a Mt Dew Big Gulp

I was wondering the same thing. I went out with my buddy from 6pm till 11 PM, on Wednesday night. I cant honestly say I saw one wiper caught out of the 30 people on the bank. I caught a nice crappie and saw one more crappie caught. Several giant shad were getting snagged, but it was a bad night for everyone it looked like.
