Hey there fellow Iceflys… was wondering what kind of conditions I’m lookin at for Hyrum? Wanting to take the kids somewhere close that they can catch some fish.. but want to be prepared as much as posssible. Looking for info on how the edges are, slush monster, and a good area to target the trout.and what kinda jigs are working the best. Also if ya have a report on ice thickness that would greatly be appreciated too. Just anything that might be able to make this a fun trip for the fam. Thanks everybody. [fishon]
Hey, i was just over there yesterday. We took the wheeler from the dam to the inlet without any problem. No slush to speek of. ice is still plenty thick, like 12 "or so. did pretty good as far as the catching goes, few bows and a few dinky perch in just a few hours. threw um all back for ya. Good Luck!!
There is at least 18" of good ice. I have had a wheeler on it the last three weekends and there has been little snow to worry about and no slush.

WOW i am surprised to hear that conditions are that good, i was expecting disaster. Looks like sat. will be when we are headin up.. havent been for a bit so its always a rush making plans. how are the edges??? should i bring a plank or leave it home?? Thanks fellas. [;)]
Hey there. I went out on Hyrum on Sunday with chugg. We did alright. Lots of action. Ice is plenty thick. Lots of little Tiger Trout, few decent Rainbows. I would suggest going early, and staying within the top 15 ft-ish for trout. Lower for perch. Good Luck!
Me and my brother were there last saturday and we caught 50-60 rainbows. Fishing on the south bank by the dam was money. we were using all sorts of colors from green, blue, pink with a small white jig tipped with waxies, and crawlers. I used a vexlar for the first time… Amazing, doubles your catch rate.
