Garbageman’s thread got me to thinking also about my favorite three ice fishing lures/jigs. Here’s mine:
Genz Worm (when fishing for trout sometimes tipped w/glow curly tail, sometimes not). When perch fishing, I
just tip with “pech eyebar,” as some call them.
Whatta Cricket (on a 1/16 oz. jighead)
Small ice fly’s of all kinds.
All of these are usually tipped with a wax or mill worm, unless fishing for perch and already have one in possession-then perch eyeball.
I can’t believe that were talking about ice fishing already, but since you asked…
I don’t have 3 favorites, but I would like to. I bought an auger this last year with the intentions of ice fishing quite a bit, then I tore the rotator somthing in my shoulder and couldn’t bore a hole. sucks, huh?
I have had pretty good success with a little glow in the dark jig tipped with a worm, suspended about a foot below a kastmaster spoon. I look foward to the opportunity to blow some hard earned money on ice fishing stuff this year, and hopefully a power auger or lunch for a friend who has a strong shoulder…sucker.
A nice person with a power auger.
A nice warm shack to get out of the wind - with hot Beer Brats.
A bad snow condition(no powder) for a day off of skiing.
we’re not yerning for winter yet, are we? Depends on what I’m fishing for Fish lake, soft rubber, bear lake, Maraboe, the gorge, soft rubber or rubber bands, for perch, sweeds and flashbacks, strawberry, tube jigs. I wish I could only have 3 kinds of lures, it would save money.I like to make my own ice stuf as much as possible, its fun to catch em on homemade.
