If anyone is going out, I would suggest a snowmobile over an a.t.v. We went out last weekend and we finally made it to the ice (third place we tried, thank goodness for winches) only to find alot of slush.
Due to being left by the side of the road long enough to be rescued by a friend who drove up from Salt Lake this summer by a tow company in Kemmerer and then being ripped off by Chad’s on the repairs I will not be attending the derby this year.
I will make it a point to never spend another dime in the area of Kemmerer. I will continue to come and visit with my friends who have places near there, camp at Fontennelle and fish both Viva Naughton and the Hams Fork, but will stock up and fully fuel in Evanston before my arrival.
Yea…those guys have always been good at sniffing out a TROLL!
Yes, they are also very good at loosing business for the Hams Fork Inn, the Sinclair Station across the street, the Radio Shack, the Jubilee Market, Bob’s Rock Shop and the Ace Hardware Store.
So, take your ICE (fishing contest) AND FLY.
I guess I’ll fire off a quick letter to the Kemmerer Lions Club next, just so they know why I feel as I do and how great of an amb****ass[/b]ador you are for their organization and their event.
They always love those letters.

Utah folks are more than welcome in Wyoming.
I could only hope however that YOU would not only decide to boycott Kemmerer business but also the entire state of Wyoming.
Wyoming would be a better place without New York ideology.
Not quite sure how an experience with one business in a town would make you boycott the whole place, anyways I am heading up to Kemmerer this weekend to spend a liitle dough.

I really think this says more about you,then it does about the people of Wyoming. As Braz said we welcome most people here,but people like you ,not so much. As for the derby,I don’t think you will be missed.
Was waiting for some results but have not seen any on here. Did anyone go up? How as the tournament and did anyone win anything?
My wife and I went up. Never been there before so we had no idea where to fish. The first day had blowing snow. We caught one 16 incher but tossed it back since they had to be 19 inches to get measured. Talked to a game warden (had no choice) and he said someone caught one near 24 inches. We didn’t see or talk to anyone else that had fish to turn in. The second day was bitter cold being minus 8 in the morning. Didn’t catch anything that day and went home empty handed regarding prize money. Will likely go back again next year, however.
Just read the results, and despiteTroll’s attempt to sabotage this thread, it looks like they had a pretty good derby with 238 anglers entered this year compared to 203 last year.
Overall derby winner was Corey Sawley of Roy, UT 23.5"
Saturday big fish was Brandon Combs of Kemmerer, WY 23"
Sunday big fish was Scott Dee of Layton, UT 23"
40 fish over 19" were registered during the event.
One prize “largest fish caught by a woman” was not awarded as no fish were turned in by a woman. That prize money was donated to Relay or Life for breast cancer awareness and research.
Money raised by the event goes to causes such as the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institure of Denver, Colo, a lead dog program, hearing testing, the Alan H Stewart Camp for the Blind in Casper, WY, eyewear for needy local children, maintenance of the Lions Club Park, the local municipal pool, and local scholarships.
The article said they plan on having the event again next year.
