Got up a little later than expected made it to the lake (from Wyo) at about noon. Was really hoping to get into some white bass but could not find them. Think they must be out deeper. Maybe they are wrapping up the spawn?
Caught one bluegill - put it in the basket but it escaped.
Once I realized the white bass were not willing to play I switched over to 2 cat rods. Had lots of pop and drops… Caught 3 small kitties. One took the infamous jig and worm.
Next time you get the urge to do that shoot me a P.M. I may be in Elko, may be home, but I can point you to some easy spots to fish if you really want some whities.
I think they are wrapping up the spawn. I found them in tighter groups and they were out deeper…abou t20’ off shore. The vaves and boaters wakes were everyewhere so that may have pushed em. Once you find a group catching is still fun for a while.
Yeah. I’ve grown up fishing in Utah because my area of the state (Southwest) is void of warm water species. Bass at the gorge, and catfish (tough to locate and fish).
In fact, some got sick of driving for walleye and bass and they have ended up in Sulphur Creek. (I don’t mind driving - bucket biology is not the answer).
Anyhow, I appreciate the offer I’ll keep that in mind.
I was just glad to get out and fish. I’ve had a few stellar days at the knolls for cats. I think my next trip will be either Pelican or Willard. I’m also itching to get out and try for some burbot at night at the gorge (float tube).
