[:)]I have been wanting to see what crappie fishing is like and I live really close to utah lake does anyone know when they will start getting there bite on ? and if it is not to much to ask what to use? thanks[:)]
Early may, small jigs, under a bobber. In rocky or reedy areas where they spawn.
AF boat harbor, SW corner by the tires, small jigs under a bobber, move around to find them. Work slowly, pretty light on the bite

Hi
Id like to know if anyone knows how the cappies got in utah lake ? I grew up fishing the lake and never caught one in 30 years. only whitebass , bluegills. largemouth bass, walleys, chanals ,carp, mudcats, blue cats, and suckers. Was the fish enterd by F&G or by bucket plantting?
I would like to know were a good place to try for whitebass or crappies if any one would like to share info. Im planning on going ater the whites for 2 weeks as soon as i can get my boat down to my moms in Lehi. thanks for any information Joe.
**Black crappies were introduced into Utah Lake in 1890…along with yellow perch, bluegills and largemouth bass. **
They have been more common in recent years, since the water levels have come back up after several years of drought. Like some other species, crappies prefer gravel and/or vegetation for spawning. In low water years there is not much of either and the young have no place to hide from predators.
I also have fished Utah lake for several decades and I do not remember a time where there have been more or bigger crappies caught than in the past couple of years.
Thanks tons you anserd my question really well Joe
Bluecats?
Nope. None. Zip, zilch, nada. Never been any Blue Catfish in Utah Lake. At least not according to any official record of being planted, or identified.
