Where are the channels right now in Utah lake, and what do i wanna use to catch them? Catfishgitter took us out and we got a few, and we have tried again, but to no avail. Help!
You guys probably fished in close, around the reeds, earlier in the year. Once it gets cooler and the lake drops a couple of feet…as it has since summer…the cats move out and are scattered over a wider area. They will be in water anywhere from 4 feet to as much as 10 feet deep. And, that can change from day to day and even during the same day.
In short, the fish are still there, and they still bite, but you often have to fish over a much larger area to get more than one or two. You can’t just anchor up and load up.
The good news is that the fish are all over the whole lake and they are feeding before winter. Drag a minnow, crawler, carp meat or white bass meat wherever the fish are and you will get bit.
**I caught fish at Lincoln Beach yesterday by soaking a minnow about five feet down in 6 to 7 feet of water, near rocks. But, I probably covered a half mile of shoreline to pick up 4 fish. **
The area between Lindon harbor and the bubbleup can be good in late fall. Just keep working different depths until you find the fish. I get some of my biggest cats there during late fall every year.
