UT Lake Advice

I don’t usually give advice because there is fierce competition as it is but tis the season for giving… and there is a massive population of small white bass in UL that need a population check.[angelic] If you fish the harbors with 1/32 oz. jigs with little chartreuse tubes you will catch lots more crappie, gills, and whities. Fish slowly and twitch gently. If you are missing strikes then pinch off the tube so that the fish are biting hook and all. Use a sensitive rod so you can feel every little strike because a large floppy rod won’t tell your palm diddly squat. Work closer to shore in the morning and evening and then move further out during the day. If you want more perch then fish near the bottom. Stick to the docks and you will have more success. Crappie will be suspended shallow and you will not need to be deeper than 1-2 ft most of the time. If you want more white bass use white tubes and twitch them a little more. Orange ice flies with wax worms worked slowly from the bottom up are another good bet. Small tubes in dark colors will get more bluegill. There… I did my deed for the season (HUMBUG). Please mind the limits and keep your creel separate from other people’s fish. Merry Christmas from the fishguru… a.k.a. Mr. Crappie.

Thanks For spreading some x-mas cheer!!!

… and a crappie new year!
