I have been saving up to buy an underwater camera since Aqua-Vu’s hit the market. Back then there wasnt much of a choice.
Now, you’ve got cameras from $99 to $699+. Without a lot of experience using them…what is the difference between all of them?
I’ll have to admit that I really like the Marcum VS 460. Not thier bottom end, but the first of ther models where the camera rotates 360 inside a housing…this eliminates the need to spin the camera by twisting the cord. A feature I have heard a lot of people like…or wish they had.
But then I look at the top of the line Marcum…flat screen color monitor!!! And the Tim Allen in me says…ohh I gotta have that…but then my wife says…why don’t you just get the $99 one…they are all the same.
So, for those of you that have had experience with them…what do I do? Is color even something you can see at any depth? Whats the point? Are some lighting systems better than others? Or will I be just as happy with the $99 than I will be with the $699?
Your input and insight is greatly appreciated.
Oh…It will mostly be used for ice fishing…but would not hesitate to take it to powell or other waters on the boat. And I do want the feature that will allow me to video record. I also like the water temp & direction features…but is that Tim Allen speaking or does it make sense to have those?
Thanks
the $99 camera runs on D batteries if I remember right. I have a color camera that I bought off of e-bay and can 't see anything thru it when i’m ice fishing, not enough light in 30 - 50 feet of water. I would like to be able to rotate the camera easier and get a bigger screen. I only use it for ice fishing so temp make no nevermind to me.
I have the Aqua view scout and I love it. Set it up on a Tripod rotate till you find jigs and work the fish when they show up. You must have a hut on bright days so ya do not have to burry your face in it to see. Does not work well on the boat either. The light really bothers the picture. But works Great in the ice hut. really improves the catch rate when they are biting light.
