Took a friend out bowfishing at UL yesterday evening. We left out of Lindon harbor. We looked around some of the weedy areas, but didn’t see anything. In most cases we couldn’t get within 30 yards of shore without stranding the boat in mud. We saw one fish about 10 yards from shore, but he took a dive and we didn’t see anything else.

So we cruised around for fun (far away from shore to keep from getting stuck) and then when back to the harbor. We started seeing then in the harbor–again, about 10 yards from shore. Took a few shots and came up empty. Then heading back to put the boat in, a guy on the docks asked us to come over there (he’s not a fan of carp). So we shot a few from the docks in Lindon Harbor and then called it a day.

My assessment would be they are near the surface in about 3 - 10 feet of water. But I’m not sure cause we didn’t really see a good representative sample. Anyone else finding them elsewhere?

**Almost always see some carp clumps around the mouth of Lincoln Beach boat channel early in the morning…when calm. Also quite a few in the shallow flats to the south…from the pump house to the inlet of Benjamin Slough. Most of them are in water deep enough to tube without fins hitting the bottom. They were there again on the 2nd.

Also saw some right up against the shoreline inside the channel on the way back in…with their backs out of water. Hope they had their sunscreen on. But a well placed arrow is a sure cure for carp skin cancer.

Thanks. I think a morning trip is in order. I’ll go give Lincoln Beach a shot.

not going to get to many great carp spots in a deep boat…either need to downgrade to a duck boat or get out and walk!

Good to to hear they’re still up on the surface, I still need to puncture a few more…

Go to the pump house right next to the gates saw prob hundred back there last week right on top I tryed fly fishing for them.

Sorry, I’m not familiar with the “pump house”. Where would that be?

**The pumphouse is at the outlet of the Jordan River, in the NE corner of the lake.

The “gates” are the 3 metal gates at the outflow channel that control the volume of water released from the lake into the river. The area upstream of the gates is a calm protected channel that attracts fish of all species…depending on time of year and flow of water.

So we would access this area on foot, or by boat from the American Fork Marina, right?

**You can access some of the area by parking in the designated parking area at Inlet Park by the foot bridge. There is a trail along the west side of the channel. But deep enough you wouldn’t want to try wading it.

If you come in from American Fork there are lots of other possible carp gathering spots in between. And don’t overlook the warm springs area just south of the outlet channel opening.

As always, weather and water levels will have a big influence on whether or not the carp are gathering in the shallows or on top. Timing is everything.
