I’m looking to get up camping along the mirror lake highway this upcoming weekend and was just wondering if anyone has been up that way and if so how’s the snow? Is the whole highway open yet over the top? I was also wondering about the snow in murdock basin if anyone has any information on that. thanks

according to the guy on the SLC blog, the road is open, alot of it is ice free. Dont say anything about snow tho.
We took a ride sunday up to trial and washington lakes and the campgrounds were still closed. there was a couple inches of snow on the road with a few higher drifts. Campgrounds should be open by this weekend or early next week. both trial and washington were ice free.
There is an updated entry on the Trib’s fishing report saying that Mirror Lake was stocked today.
Fished Mirror lake on saturday, had to hike through the snow to get around the lake but wasn’t do bad. by the end of the day almost all of the ice was off the lake. the highway is clear from kamas all the way to Evanston.
The snow starts a couple miles below Mt. Baldy summit( from the Kamas side)and continues about 5 miles past Mirror. Alot of people out camping in non developed sites below the snow line.
So how was fishing?
i would recomend going up there mid july, the water is clouded from runoff this time of year. ive had the most luck when the river is only about half full.cast a bobber with a worm and sinker upriver and let it drift, you should hook into some brook trout.
it was great! 16. most were just little guys from 7-10" and a few over 12". worms were the ticket but powerbait cought a couple, fly and bubble did nothing(not enough insects out up there i guess).
