Uinta Montain again XD....

Ya ya i went to uinta mountain once again. Im driving up the canyon and this helicopter starts flying and after 10 min going up hill oh what I notice a helicopter blocking the way up hill. I thing it was because of huge fire but it was some accident and he still blocked the road for like 20+min. I saw some ambulance looks like what some thing not good happened i just hope everyone was okay.

Off to camping got there late around 6-7 pm because of delay V_V. Unpacked and off fishing. I hit tea pot lake around 8 pm fished till 10 pm Caught 3 fishes before back to camp. Just a few seconds before picking up the silver fox lure bam fish hit it then later used some bait and 2 more then back to camp. It sucks that camp fire was illegal up there looks like another camping days with no fire. WHERE IS MY RAIN PLEASE COME SOON.

Saturday. Woke up early went to lily lake harsh time up there i pulled everything from fly rod to lures but i was to lazy to use bait lol. I had only one huge tiger trout hit my woolly bugger and while getting to close oh the nice fast catch and release just 3 ft gone V_V. Went to camp to eat and back to fishing adventure. I decided to go fishing on the provo river that goes down to evanston wyoming. Checked out my old camping spot and looks like the beetles have been eating the trees up there nicely. I went to my little hole that i usually catch some nice big brookies and what i notice was a huge grayling i tossed everything at him but he didn’t want anything that picky little child. It could of been a nice 15+ :frowning: sad days for me. Then walked around and catch dink brookies one of them was so hungry it looks like it was close to eating my lure XD and one fish decided to hit some noise piercing as well XD. Tossed elk hair and yes a few more.

Went back to car and going to camp just pass butterfly lake on the left side a saw a small pond but really steep rocky area and decided to go there. Really big challenge going down with no stable rocks. Walked to the other side of pond and i find leeches 0.o or what ever it is. 2-3 in flat black swimming around and one little fish that all i saw. The stupid horse flies wanted to eat me not fun so i ran and still while climbing the hill no fun its steep and unstable rocks and fly trying to bite me. Got in car and off to mirror lake. The fishes were picky with my fly rod they would lightly hit it the end pull out the bait and just 5 second later when bait hit water. Bam there’s a fish XD. Gosh the fish were going insane the people next to me couldn’t catch anything but they had fun watching me catch them ha ha ha. Took my limit and back to camp to clean them >_<.

Sunday the day im a year older XD. I went to trail lake and only one dinky bow on a prince nymph and my dad only caught one dinky one on bait both of us let them go. Later I went to mirror lake again pulled fly rod and no love used bait and bam fishes  in 1hr at least 10 fish and the bigger fight i had was a fish called a castmaster lure fish and it was red color XD. Took limit to camp and off to clean more fish. After leaving camp back to town i decided to go on the river next to some huge beaver dam saw one big fish jump but nope hi didn’t like me but the beaver liked watching me fish on the dam and on the other side of the dam . Dam big huge beaver camp up and back down. That how I end my camping trip. More trips to come this week ^_^.

The Uinta’s always gives a few trout to the eager fisherman who makes the trip…one of these days I will have to join you on a campout up there. PM sent.

Yes u do even when the tiger trouts come to lily pads that’s when the fun begins

Sounds like a great camping trip, despite the fire restrictions. I always enjoy spending any time I can up along the UT 150. Plenty of fishing spots, both right on the highway, and off the main road, if you don’t mind the bone rattling dirt roads.

I have fished many spots along both the Provo, and the North Fork of the Provo, as well as a lot of nice spots along the Bear River (Christmas Meadows, Stillwater, Hayden Fork), plus a few areas that are way out of the way (East and West Forks of Blacks Fork).

Next week I will be going up to a spot along Hayden Fork to try to catch a few brookies. I have also had some luck catching some cutts up there. (On a side-note: does anyone know if the cutts found in the north slope creeks/rivers are bonneville or bear lake cutts?) I know we have 3 species of them living in Utah (Bonneville, Bear Lake, and Colorado River).

I doubt that the bear lake cutties left the lake to wonder somewhere else but ya theres some colorado cutties out there in uinta some where in the river

Nice report. The river running towards Evanston you’re referring to would be either Hayden Fork or East Fork of the Bear River. The Provo runs out of Trial and towards Kamas.

Most of the cutts in North Slope streams ( I’ve fished most of them and their various forks) are Bonneville cutts. There are several with Colorado River cutts however. Bear River and tribs up there have Bonnies only. Fairly easy to ID. If you don’t have the more intense orange coloration on it’s belly it’s not likely to be a Colorado River cutt . I think the Colorado River cutts are the prettiest trout in the state.
