The guy’s body language says it all! Writhing on the ground in pain. That’s a good reminder to all of us to chock the tires before unhitching a trailer on slope. Especially one that steep!

It’s even worse when on the freeway going 65 , and it comes unbuttoned . I won’t elaborate , but actually no damage ,and no contact with another vehicle. Very lucky day .

Was with a buddy on a trip to Willard from Sandy went up
Fished on our way home near fort Union exit , hit a bump, the trailer came off the ball . I Told my buddy don’t hit the brakes, slow down gradually or the boat will be in your pickup bed!! He Got it over to the side on safety chain, only the spare was destroyed, it actually helped slow the trailer down and keep it tracking straight behind the truck on the safety chain. He said I locked it look, I said you locked it on top of the ball! Not ON the ball. We tried to put it BACK on, we couldn’t lift it! I said your tounge weight is so heavy it kept it on top, without coming off, all the way up and most of the way back!!! Dam lucky not at 70 in full traffic!! We used Jack to get it back on the ball. No major damage other than the spare and buddies ego! Very lucky , he now always checks to make sure on the ball not on top of it!!

A former neighbor in Calif was bringing home a new boat from a local dealer, when going over a set of railroad tracks the boat trailer separated from his truck finding an electrical or telephone pole. The hitch was still attached to the trailer but pin that secures hitch to receiver was missing. This could have been a disaster knowing where he made the purchase coming home at hiway speed. He got within 1/2mi from home.

I would be pissed too!
