Point well taken. I guess I wasn’t following the whole discussion. Maybe Idaho has that over Utah in that “regulation” makes more sense for a description although anytime you have to put “ation” on the end of what you are saying it shows government-ease playing into the language. Rules are Rules…

In Response to Gstott “taking” 19 smallmouth, I hope you mean catching and not taking home 19 smallmouth. The smallies have to be 12 inches to keep. Most of the ones I was catching were under 12 inches but there are some big ones in there, if you caugh 19 over 12 inches and kept them that is impressive. Those little guys sure fight hard!!!
Oh no, bad phrasing I suppose. Smallies always go back. Walleye, panfish, and smaller trout sometimes get it, but never bass. Yeah, most of mine were smaller too. I caught more larger ones in mid may, but I’m guessing they’ve spawned and moved location.
Nice!! I figured. We also caught some big females in May while we were fishing for walleye. Smallmouth are some amazing fish.
Overall, I’d have to say they’re my favorite fish. I was planning on going to Oneida today, but I got a late start and went to Weston instead. Largemouth are almost as fun as smallmouth.
how did you do at weston, were the bass on there beds yet?
I caught 41 bass, a perch and a rainbow. Most of the bass were dinks, but I got a few better fish up to 15". The bigger fish were quite deep. The largest was probably a good 50 feet out in about 12 feet of water. Most came on a 3" grub on a 1/16th ounce jig fished slowly over the bottom, or on a dropshot. A 3" wacky rigged stick bait and a 2.5" reaper did best on that rig. That water is so clear, I think that the bass bed in deeper water at Weston. I’m thinking they’ve pretty well finished spawning overall. I had some fun catching dinks on poppers for a little bit before the storms came in again. I also had a lot of hits with leech patterns fished on a sinking line in 16-18’ of water over some weed beds, but I kept missing them and decided chasing bass was more productive. Overall, a pretty fun time for the 2 1/2 hours I got to fish before the crazy thunderstorms slammed me.
Twin Lakes is a family friendly fisherie and there is no size limit on them anything is fair game there, see the regulations, proclamations lol
Thanks for making the report. I finally got enough time to add a few pics from what you already have shown. It sure seems along time ago that we had sunny weather like that. Ok that was actually a very windy day, but I would take it over the constant rain that we have had now.
