I’m taking three little grand daughters fishing tomorrow at Strawberry. Could anyone help me with the size and color of a tube jig that would work well.
Master Daad, If you happen to read this post, you are the master of tube jigs from what I saw 10/10 and master dad too. Do you have any advise. I hope tomorrow I can be the master grandpa with these 5, 7 and 12 year olds.
White tube jigs, I usually use 2 - 3 inch ones. I have the best success tipping with a worm. I’ve tried shrimp, cut bait etc. but for me it’s worms. You just have to experiment too. Some days you can detect the bite and other times you have to be on your toes to hook them. Also if your fishing early morning try a worm under a bobber. That would be the easiest for young kids. They can watch the bobber, don’t think the two younest ones could do to well with jigs.
White 2" to 3.5" tubes tipped with chub or worm. I typically use a 1/8 oz. head. Toss it out and let it sink a minute then real it in real slow. Every once in a while stop and let the tube sink a foot or so. Alot of times they will take it on the fall.
My little boy likes to just put the pole in the holder and let it sit there about 10 to 15 feet down most times. Alot of times that dead stick pole will get more hits than me reeling in one.
