What type of toon do you have? I know most manufacturers sell attachments for mounting a trolling motor or you may be able to fabricate one from pipe o possibly pvc if it’s strong enough.
when you say toon ,what do you mean a large pontoon ,a small toon.what kinda trolling motor, gas or electic, how big?
I have an 12ft streamside pontoon with a steel deck in the back,

You might be able to make something from “L” brackets and a piece of plywood. I had to make a complete framework to hold the battery and motor, out of 2x4’s and a little plywood. It works great but it adds a little weight.
I’d be glad to post pictures if anyone’s interested.
my toon will hold 500 lbs, so I think I am OK.

Mine’s only rated for 350, and I’m pushing the envelope with myself, the motor and battery. Them batteries aren’t light. The mount only weighs maybe 15-20 lbs, but I made it sturdy because i really don’t want to lose the battery or motor if some waves come up. Aluminum would be lighter and probably look better, but I’d question anything that I personally made out of aluminum. I didn’t feel like spending another $70 or so on a mount at Sportsman’s.
I would advise spending the money for one that is prefabbed. I bought one for mine and it is sturdy enogh that I would dare to put a small outboard and gas can on it (I can’t afford to but I’d dare) and it is light weight. Also, the one I bought is balanced so it didn’t change the center of gravity on by toon that much.
