2017 Minn Kota Endura Max 55Lb stern mount on Alweld 17-foot modified V john boat.
Long narrative to get to the point.
Back story: Was on Rockport October 6 using the motor to troll for trout. Running 2.4 to 2.6 mph for most of the morning. Took a break for a while. Tried to troll some more, couldn’t get above 1 mph and kept dropping. Thought maybe battery had lost charge but checked it when we got home, tested at 12.8 volts and passed load test. Charged it anyway till we left the morning of October 8. Went to Echo couldn’t get the trolling motor to run above .7 mph even at 100% input.
A week later was testing it in the garage and seemed to run fine. Opened the foot and found it had been full of water then dried out. Ordered a kit and replaced brushes, seals and bearing. Cleaned everything well. Got it back together and worked in the garage.
Fast forward to yesterday, launched at Rockport ran down to the northeast corner of the dam. Dropped the trolling motor to move around to find perch. Move the control to forward, the prop runs backwards. Move control to reverse and the prop runs forward. So was still able to move around.
So, to the question, the only wires I could have reversed are the ones at the brush plate. Will that cause the issue? Or any suggestions other than buy a new one.
Spot lock would be nice but neither of us are in a position to upgrade that far.
Getting late in the season but hoping for a couple more trips before ice.
Thanks for any tips/advice.
