Toe-To-Hand Transplant Helps Angler Continue Fishing

CARDIFF, WALES—A Welsh angler recently had two of his toes transplanted onto his hand in an effort to let him continue fishing.

Colin Thomas lost all eight of his fingers when his hands got caught in a roller at the steel plant where he works. He thought his fishing days were over since he could longer hold a fishing pole or reel in his line. Surgeons, however, performed a 13-hour operation to amputate the toes next to the big toes on each of Thomas’ feet and transplanted them onto his right hand.

Colin spent seven weeks in the hospital and underwent more than 20 operations, however, he now fishes almost every day.

That is an amazing amount of fortitude for a man to continue his sport of choice.

yessa, figure he,s a sportman clearn thru. glad he can go again,
