Tiger Musky in Fish Lake/Mill Meadow??

[reply]
I really doubt if it will be worth the drive to either one.

I disagree. I have heard fantastic things from Forsythe this year. Recent reports from Mill Meadow also show that the ice-fishing has been good to excellent. I don’t believe you’d be wasting your time at all to hit Mill Meadow and Forsythe.

Both lakes have been very good to us over the last year. Caught some very decent browns and a huge perch ice fishing Mill Meadow last year and at ice off nalied lots of browns, splake and rainbows casting rapalas (in April). Forsyth also gave is some huge Tigers last April with Rapalas. I would say that the average fish for us was much bigger out of these lakes than out of Fish Lake. I hope I am not announcing someones big secret.

We will also be fishing these lakes on Saturday to avoind the saturday fish lake crowd. Look for a report early next week.

Hey, I’m glad I’m wrong on that one! I guess I was basing it on my past experiences and recent draining of Mill Meadow.
Hope you DO get a bunch in both places!! Let us know; a group of us are going down to Fish Lake around Valentine’s Day. (Kitchen pass trip with out the Mrs. for us.) A side trip to those two lakes would be fun and less crowded, as you mentioned.

Mill Meadow and Mill Hollow are two different bodies of water. Mill Hollow was drained, but Mill Meadow was not (someone correct me if I am wrong).

I’m confused by the draining stuff…

He mentioned that Fishlake ranger district in Loa told him about the draining. If that’s true, why would they be talking about Mill Hollow?

The only thing that I can think of is that Mill Meadow does not have a conservation pool, which means water users can drain the reservoir dry if they wish. Typically, they drain it low, but not low enough to lose the fish.

As far as I know, Mill Meadow has not been drained recently.

OW!! MY BAD!!:astonished:

I just spoke to Fishlake Nat’l. Forest at Loa and they said that Mill Meadow and Forsyth had lots of water and ice fishermen. I am so sorry for any confusion and consternation I caused. The Loa folks sent me a small map with depths of Fish Lake on it and I could have sworn that another pamphlet said that Mill Meadow was drained. I’ll check when I get home.

SORRY!!!

I’ll forgive you if you send me that topo map of fish lake that it sounds like you got. :face_with_tongue:

Seriously.
