Got on the ice a little after 7 and the conditions had me optimistic. Started out in 38’, right off the beach on the south side of cemetery point. 6-8" of good ice. Punched a couple holes and spun up the Vex. Sweet, lots of fish on sonar.
I couldn’t hardly buy a bite all day. Moved out to 50’ with the same result; marking fish, but no takers. Moved into 25 feet and more of the same. I threw my whole tackle box down the hole today. 5 hrs, maybe a dozen weak hits and one 4" perch. A quick look around the lake showed similar results for everyone else. By noon I took off and went to Causey…
Where I got a dozen bites in the first 10 minutes. Fished for an hour and iced six little tigers. I was hoping to find the Kokes, but no luck. Lotsa ice up there. Probably over 15".
Stopped and got a burger at Red Rock Cafe on the way home and that made the day all better.
So… Any reports from the brave folks fishing the narrows today? If not, I will have to assume that ya’ll hammered 'em and I will be up there Saturday! 
They were a pain today for us as well. Must be just one of those days. We saw the same huge schools on the finder I saw last week, but they would not open up very far and we landed less than a dozen…compared to 50 or so last week. Hope some of the other areas are getting safer and accessible so we can move around a bit more and see if the success changes.
Luckily it wasn’t a total skunking for ya. I usually go the other way around. Boring fishing at Causey to decent catching at Pineview! Now days a trip to Holmes Creek Res on the back to SLC might not be a bad idea either.
We were on PV yesterday and it was a very light and almost non-detectable Perch bite. We did manage enough for a dinner 8-8.5" one pushing 9". Fished roughly 40-45’ of water.
Dead sticking didn’t produce. We could see them on the flasher dropped down the ice fly to the bottom and would jig ever so slightly above them 4-6" maybe…had to have rod basically in hand flasher with strike indicator were the ticket for us. We’d get one interested see it on the flasher than had to focus on the strike indicator the smallest indication it was setting the hook. We missed a few hits early but got the timing down.
Them Perchie are thar and at least for us had to pay attention and really work to get the ones we managed yesterday…all the same it was a very nice day on PV. Only hope cold temps stay and opens up more of PV with safe ice to explore our old hunt’n grounds for them tastee pan fish.
So don’t beat yourself up yesterday was a very slow biting day for Perch.
