The fishing was slow over the weekend, but it was a successful test drive of my newly installed electric motor. It’s a great addition to my tube and I can’t wait to try it out some more. Thanks to everyone for tips, advice and pictures I could copy your designs from.
The thought occurred to me that it would really ruin my day if I slid out of my seat with the electric motor going. Has anyone wired up a dead-man switch in their tube or toon?
**It would be easy enough to install a kill switch. But I opted for a simple on-off switch…sold by Bass Pro shops…the “Bigfoot” switch. Only about $17 and really makes it easier to shut down quickly without having to reach back and turn the motor handle. I mount it right beside me for fast access. **

That’s funny! Can you drive right up to the shore there? We launched just below our campsite which was about 100 yards of no fun packing everything everything down.
I wired mine to a switch too. But yes you would be in trouble if slipped out of that while the motor was running. Much more so if you didn’t have a life jacket on.
I ended up catching 9 real nice trout that day. I got off the water at dark. That is a tricky place/area. It can be real hot one day and so cold the next. But you’ll get it figured out.
I’ve been float-tube fishing for many years( not nearly as many as Tubedude) and I can’t imagine how you would slip out of a float tube. Does the weight of a motor in back make it easier to slip out? i would think it would have the opposite effect. I have never come remotely close to slipping out of my tube.
