So after a long while, I finally got some good company in my boat emoBigsmile She was actually anxious to see if I could live up to the stories and get on a big one.
I decided to scrap bringing skipjack and instead try to catch our own bait. So we went for bluegill. In about 15 minutes we had all I "thought" we were going to need. We got a late start in the day.
Now I just acquired a GoPro and I actually was learning it on the boat…so bear with me until I get better with it. Really excited about the possibilities with it!

The winter storm was starting to roll in and although I felt very energized, I wasnt sure the cats would be…
First anchor is in EricM's hole…ehhhummm emoPoke Within minutes a 24lber is on board! Woohoo! Moved locations and got a few small ones.
Moved locations and got a 23lber. Then a few small ones. Moved way downstream to where Sam has done well…a few dink channels.
Moved again to a spot that I found that has worked on a few…about 10 minutes and a rod buries heavy…after a really nice battle she boats a chubby 53 lber! Right after another good one buries a rod and comes off…win some, loose some. A few other small ones come in.
Move locations to a new spot and a flathead hits…cool!!! Then a tap on a rod and nothing…after a few minutes reel in to find another flatty is on! Gotta love that:)
Then another classic flathead bite, but this one is bigger…a lot bigger. Off it comes…hate when the hook is back in the bait emoHoppingmad

Move locations as evening sets in and tag a few small blues and another 24lber.

Move locations again to a spot thats been good. 10 minutes a rod goes down in the rain…yay for a 44 lber! We were happy! That blue was almost part flathead.
After a few more eaters, a rod dips gently. "I think its about 20-30 lbs" Wow, wasnt prepared for what was next! A great 65 lber!!! Really pumped we bait and throw out again. A bit later a VERY big heartbreak occurs that I dont even want to talk about on here… emoBawl But the 65 was still a great fish right???
Now out of bait we call it a night.

Next morning we are off again and put more gills in the boat, some of which were huge. The bite was way slower. EricM's hole was still passing fish though, and we got a 12 lber. Next hole we lost another big fish that felt like a flathead, but hook was back into the bait. GRRRR
After a while we reel up to find a flathead on another rod. How cool is that?

Last hole we bag a fat 34lber as the wind and cold set in. A great trip for sure!!!

Video is here at: http://youtu.be/xRyjRi0AkPY<br />
