Got on the water at 6 a.m., and because I was with Co, we decided to troll for a short bit. During that time, he got a good-looking crappie, which we decided to keep. I also got a crappie, but mine wasn't a keeper.

We then started tooling around at different places, trying to fish brush. We got some bites but brought nothing to the boat.

Then we went and picked my brother up, who had bass on the brain. He then proceeded to annoy us by catching decent bass non-stop. They weren't monsters, but they were pretty sweet. The biggest was just under 3 pounds according to my brother's scale. He thought it weighed more and wished he'd tried my old-school scale to verify, but it was too late when he thought of that.

He was using purple worms and actually lost more than he caught. Had his line break at least four times, while Co and I laughed. At the same time, Co was fishing purple worms and coming up with nothing, so I thought I'd be smart and fish those green pumpkin worms. Got a good hit that fought for a moment, but as I've not bass fished in a while, I neglected to set the hook as hard as bass require.

(Edit: Looks like I did catch a bass. Or at least that's what he'll be soon. Hahaha…)

Oh well.

Was fun out there, though I did feel like kicking my brother out of the boat for catching everything. Hahaha…

The good news is that fishing wasn't the only great thing. Not only were we on the water, but we saw some super rad stuff: a beautiful sunrise (The heavens declare the glory of God - Ps 19) and a doe and fawn on a tiny little island. Which had Co and I wondering…did those deer swim to that tiny island? Anyone know anything about this?
