Looking to fish on Thursday. I’ve read all the posts on Strawbery and I am wondering where on Strawberry is safe ice ?

i’m going to go give it a try tomorrow, i think the only safe is mud creek and soldier creek, maybe chicken creek is safe too, i don’t know. But ill let you know how i do. but i know mud creek and soldier creek are safe for sure.

I fished Mud Creek today and the ice was plenty safe. There was also a ton of cars parked over on the Soldier Creek side. One thing to be careful of is in between the Marina turn off and Soldier Creek on highway 40 is a bunch of big pot holes in the road.

Yup, I managed to hit just about every one of them this morning because the fog was so stinkin’ thick. These aren’t baby potholes either, these are the real deal with Bill McNeil. [crazy]

how did you do at mud creek? was the fishing any good?

We got there late right around 10AM at first the bites were non stop. Then starting at 10:30 and continuing through 1pm we didn’t get a bite. It looked like the other fisherman in that area had the same experience. I couldn’t get any fish out of the hole they kept jumping off my hook.

how was it for you? we only caught like 1 per hour haha, it wasn’t all that great, we were fishing too shallow for the first, then we went to 25’ and started getting some, but we still weren’t on the fish good, we would only see fish on the camera like one or two fish every thirty minutes, and only half of the fish would stick around, and some were hard to hook by looking on my camera, it was a beautiful day though and we caught fish so we had a good time :slight_smile: . managed to catch 1 rainbow, the others were all 17-20 inch cutthroats. nice to see some people had snow machines on the ice, although the ice is kinda messed up with frozen slush on top then slush then ice so its kinda weird.
