I would like to set a few crawdad traps while I am fishing at Strawberry. Has anyone ever been successful at catching any through the ice? I have caught a few 'dads on my jigs at Flaming Gorge while fishing for burbot. So I am confident they are actively feeding.
I have caught several through the ice while fishing at Strawberry. I then twist off their tail and release them unharmed. A freshly caught crawdad tail makes a great bait at Strawberry.
After having several “hits” and misses, we finally reeling in the culprit. He wasn’t about to let go of the chunk of powerbait in his claw. This was at the ladders a couple years ago.
“released unharmed” after being harmed is classic venerable TD rhetorical irony lol. Kinda like baptizing the heathen fishies by pulling them out of the water on a Sunday lol.
