I have been a long time viewer of this site, I really enjoy it! It seems to me there has been an extremely low amount of posts/reports on Strawberry this year. I have been up a few times off the shore and have done real well. Nothing spectacular but a few good days.
Here is my question: I rarely fish from a boat but this weekend I have an opportunity to get out on a boat and do some trolling at the Berry (Solider Creek Side). I usually only troll at Fish Lake and was wondering if I could get a few tips on what would be a lure of choice for you guys. I am used to the standard pop gear and worm and pointer 78 at Fish Lake but I would really appreciate a few tips on “The Berry” If you would like to P.M. me I understand. Thanks a lot and I hope I have a few pics to show you when I get back!
try red and white spoons, i get mine from walmart, they are south bend brand and will only run you about 4 bucks for a pack of 5. i used them last spring and they were the only lure that would catch anything, not much of a boat fisherman but thats my 2 cents. good luck!
pop-gear with a worm has been doin alright for us this year but if you have down-riggers, 2" rainbow rapala, daredevils and castmasters have been producing very well for us at 15’ of water. good luck man
Strawberry is one of my favorite fishing spots. We always troll using a Shasta brand “Humdinger” trailed behind a Shasta brand “dodger” or “slingblade”. I have had the best luck using a copper & orange humdinger and a neutral colored dodger. I’ve seen those items for sale at a number of stores, but have usually found them at Sportsman’s Warehouse.
We went fishing at Strawberry this last weekend and it was really slow. My son caught two cutthroat and I couldn’t buy a strike. (we were using the same settup). Good luck!
Me and friend were up there last Monday and did fairly well. It took a while to figure them out, but trolling with rappalas on downriggers was the ticket. We ended up with 15 for the day and lost one really nice one.
