Went up to the berry Sunday, got there kinda late. Around noon. fished close to the ramp till almost dark. My friend got one right off the bat and thought it was going to be a good day, she caught 2 … It was as slow as I have ever seen it, 6 bites and two fish iced both were 19" cuts… Ice was very solid 20 inches and no slush at all. We tried everything except scuba gear! Only the second time I have been skunked there. I got 2 bites and no hook ups. [frown]
Talked to one guy that said he iced 10 near us but it was before we got there, so I think we missed the hottest time of the day… early
Welcome to the site Mr. Zippx - I also fished the Berry on Sunday as well - we started fishing about 7:45 and it was a great day. The two of us iced about 15 each - all cutts in the slot and those are sure some pretty fish.
We took the snowmobile out of Chicken Creek East and later a airboat went zooming by - man those things are LOUD…
Ice was a good 20" and there was NO wind and a great day
The fishing slowed down about 11:30 and we hit the road at noon. We are going to make at least a couple more trips for sure before the hard deck is gone…
thanks for the reports, planning on trying the lake on Saturday 3/14/2009 if the weather holds we have been fishing out around Haws Point and it has been slow compaired to last year in three trips up we have iced 5 fish between two of us. make sure your fishing license is current dont be like me. I got a $144 fine for fishing for only about 10 minutes with an expired licences that I didn’t realise was expired until they came by and checked. and they very next weekend the DWR were out again checking
