I took a couple friends (Mr. & Mrs. F) to Strawberry yesterday. What a beautiful day! We fished Soldier Ck and found slow fishing. My sense is most people there were having a slow day. We eventually landed seven and lost a number of other fish. Action was best on jigs tipped with chub meat in 12-14’ right on the bottom. Pink and white ice cutters and tubes were most consistent. Orange glow not so good.
The highlight was a robust 24" cutt landed by Mrs. F, her first fish through the ice! It actually began with her catching a crawdad which graciously donated its tail meat for bait. Fifteen minutes later she’s fighting a very nice Stawberry cutt. She’s hooked.
