STRAWBERRY 01-11-08 (SLUSH MONSTER)

TROPHYBOAT AND I FISHED THE BERRY TODAY, ARRIVED ABOUT 7:30 A.M. A TROPICAL 21 DEGREES, SNOW FALLING. LOADED THE MACHINES HEADED OUT ON THE LAKE FOR ABOUT A 20 MINUTE RIDE TO FIND 2’ OF SNOW AND 8" OF SLUSH. FORGET THE 4 WHEELERS FOR A FEW DAYS YOU WILL DEFINATLEY NEED A SNOWMOBILE. FISHED AT 27’ OF WATER ICED OVER 40 PLUS AND LOST COUNT! COUPLE WERE OVER THE SLOT BUT MOST OF THEM WERE IN THE SLOT. WE USED RATFINKES, GITZITS, AND PADDLE BUGS WORKED GREAT. BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WE USED WORKED AS WELL WITH MEAL WORMS AND WAX WORMS. PICS TO BE ADDED SOON.

Congrats! We didn’t quite have that luck. We were in about 30 feet of water, and only iced 8. I think I saw you guys in the Strawberry Bay marina parking lot. We were in the dark green Jeep grand cherokee.

I am wanting to take my son up there tomorrow afternoon. I was wondering first, how would the slush be for a kid, I have an ice shack and i think he would stay in it, and also how is the fishing up there is the evening, I have always fished it in early morning? Thanks in advance. Andy

WE WERE IN MY WHITE 4 DOOR DODGE WITH A WHITE XLT SNOWMOBILE ON MY TRAILER. I THINK I SEEN YA AT THE TOP AT THTE PAY STATION.

I WOULD PROBABLY PICK ANOTHER SPOT TO FISH AT IF THE KIDS ARE GOING. THE SNOW IS DEEP AND THE SLUSH IS ALSO. I USUALLY ALWAYS TAKE MY SON THAT IS YOUNG BUT NOT UP THERE.

Thanks, I will probably take the boy to Utah Lake or Yuba. Have you ever tried Strawberry in the afternoon/early evening?

From the sounds of it, quite a few people are going to Yuba tomorrow (myself included).

Good report in spite of the slush. I’m jellous. Bait_Caster and I went out too and didn’t have nearly as good day fishing as you.:face_with_tongue:
