When your tube if full you glide across the water. When you are low on air the front drops and you plow through the water. I’d still rather have to kick against the wind in my ODC then my old U tube anyday. Much less effort to get back to the car.

One of the main reasons I went for an ODC as my first tube was I thought with less area in contact with the water it would glide easier as you describe. Over here in Ireland the wind can get really strong very quickly and it just seems very difficult especially if it is gusting and changing direction as it often does here.
Would you venture out in a 25-30mph. blow in an ODC?
Probably not for two reasons. First is I have poor health and get tired very easily. Sencond is when there are white caps on the water it makes it hard to fish. I save my energy and get off the water and wait out the wind. Have done it but just don’t think it’s worth all the effort.
**Man TD - I’m sorry to hear of your troubles with the H3. I figured the two of you had finally found your solution. **
I’m still very happy with my Super Fat Cat with the inflatable seat. Then again, I’m not a big guy at 185. I can fish at least half a day with no discomfort, and after that I only need the same position change as I would need in any comfortable chair.
Hey Z, good to have you chime in. Hope all is well with you.
I have often wished that I had gone ahead and bought another Super Fat Cat rather than the H3. There are some things about the H3 that I do like, but on a side by side checklist, I think I would now give preference to the SFC…or even just a regular Fat Cat. I might be making some changes in my tube arsenal before spring.
If the news reports here are correct, you are probably not doing much tubing in Oregon…except to leave the house.
Hi Pat. Nothing wrong that a little fishing wouldn’t fix!
**We got quite a bit or rain in the latest storms. The river across the street is running bank to bank. Our little area here missed the brunt of the weather, though we did get some very high winds. Just no flooding. The coast was a different story. Some areas saw 130 MPH wind gusts and in one spot the main road was under 10 feet of water. Remembering the drought out your way we’d be happy to figure out a way to share some of the rain. **
**As much as you two use your tubes a couple of brand new Super Fat Cats under the Christmas tree wouldn’t be an unreasonable move. Should be able to unload those Rojos in the spring with no trouble - maybe to somebody with a smaller frame. **

That’s the plan, man. Except TubeBabe has an emotional attachment to her old Fat Cat and wants to just go back to it for awhile. Got a good potential deal cookin’ on Ebay for a new SFC for my own self.
Looks like the weather has reached us in Utah finally. We had a good snow storm last weekend and we are getting dumped on again right now. That will definitely help with the water situation but it pretty much puts an end to this year’s tubing. All the rest of our lakes will turn hard real soon after the current batch of white stuff subsides and the temperatures drop after the fronts move out. I’m “dedicated” but not real keen on drilling a hole in the ice big enough to float my tube.

May as well get the remaining good out of that older tube. Those urathane bladders should hold up well.
Those Fat Cats are gettin’ old and ugly (like me) but they still float and still catch fish. We “temporarily” retired them when we got the H3’s, intending to keep them for family or friend tubing trips, but now it looks like they might get some more “front line” floatin’.

Has anyone, anywhere, worn out a urethane air bladder yet? My earliest ones are still going strong no problems so far.
They seem almost indestructable.
